Course Objectives
Students in this class will develop a general understanding about educational psychology and reflection of their own experiences in teaching and learning. Using the theory as a starting point and personal experiences as foundation, the class will be engaged in study of cases of self and others through in-class and on-line discussion. At the end of the class, it is hoped that every student will have a critical examination of their values and believes in teaching and learning.

Course Assignment
1. Reflection of learning experiences: 1-2 pages each. Preview the chapter and link to your experiences. The writing would be discussed in class. There will be 4-6 exercises. (25%)
2. Summary of important terms: Student will choose several important terms from the chapters and write a short summary (explanation and elaboration) of the term. (30%)
3. Final exam (30%)
4. Participation in the class discussion (15%)

Course Format
The class will start by having the group discussion for 35 minutes (15 discussion and 20 minutes sharing), followed by students presenting their problem analysis for 15 minutes. Then break time. Finally the instructor summarizes the discussion, presentation, and discuss with the students about the key concepts of the textbook for about 45 minutes. Occasionally a pop quiz would be given to the class at the beginning of the class.
